Meet Our Staff

Brian Meck, a native of Maryland, is the President, Founder and Principal Agent of Meck Insurance Agency. Brian developed his insurance knowledge while working for local insurance agencies and one of the largest international insurance brokers in the world for six years.

His experience with corporate clients ranges from small businesses to international and multi-state companies with complex insurance requirements. Much of Brian’s knowledge comes from his experience of being a business owner. He owned a manufacturing company with over 200 employees prior to becoming an insurance agent.

For personal auto, homeowners’, and life insurance- Brian and his team excel at finding the right combination of policies to maximize coverage and take advantage of discounts, while simplifying the insurance buying experience.

Brian says “I know it sounds boring to most people, but I enjoy reading insurance policies, reviewing existing insurance programs, and finding ways to make them better. It’s a bit like solving a puzzle. When you buy insurance you are buying a legal contract. As an insurance agent I feel obligated to understand the details of the policies/contracts of the carriers I represent so that I can properly advise my clients when they are making purchasing decisions.”

He is proud to bring Erie Insurance and its reputation for personal, caring service to his hometown of Clarksville.

Josh Mooney, a fellow born Marylander, is the current Operations Coordinator of Meck Insurance Agency. Josh comes to us with an extensive background in local retail business and office services. He joins Meck in-training to be our primary customer service representative.

Josh graduated from Frostburg State University (2016) with a B.S. in Theatre/Acting. While shy and soft-spoken at first, his passion lies in acting in live theatre and can almost certainly be found performing in local productions throughout the year. Living just outside Annapolis his whole life, Josh is presently focused on his family, having just gotten engaged to his girlfriend, Rachel. He looks forward to starting life with her and settling down together in-and-around their Howard/Anne Arundel County roots.

Josh’s commitment to quality customer service extends not only toward his customers but his colleagues as well. He shares, “My father first worked for Giant Foods just over 20 years and developed a well-oiled interest and understanding of people. From his early interactions with customers in local establishments, to, eventually, working for corporate as an accountant, dad always took a genuine, concerned interest in people all around him, no matter the time it took or the issue that needed handling. He carried this personability into every career and job setting thereafter and made a memorable impact on every individual he encountered.” Josh plans to carry on his father’s intentional legacy and apply it to the opportunity Brian has presented.

In time, Josh hopes to cultivate the precise know-how of the insurance industry and become a valued asset to the inevitable growth the Meck Agency will undergo in the foreseeable future.

Dave Wieman serves as a Sales Executive for Meck Insurance Agency, bringing more than 40 years of experience in personal, property, and casualty insurance. Licensed in Maryland since 1984, he began his career with AAA Insurance in Baltimore before launching his first agency, Ellicott City Insurance, as an Allstate representative in 1994. After selling that agency, he founded Patapsco Valley Insurance in 2007, representing Erie Insurance and other independent carriers.

As his business expanded, Dave merged with Jeffrey Miller Insurance in 2012, forming the Patapsco Insurance Group in Catonsville. In 2022, the agency joined Meck Insurance, where Dave continues to deliver the exceptional service and client‑first approach that have defined his career.

A Maryland native and graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s University, Dave remains active with the school’s Alumni Association. He lives in Ellicott City with his daughter and son and enjoys golf, fishing, and cheering on his kids at their collegiate softball and baseball games.

Michael “Harley” Harley is a Commercial Insurance Advisor who partners with businesses to protect their operations, manage risk, and plan for long‑term stability. With a strong understanding of commercial coverage solutions—including general liability, property, workers’ compensation, and industry‑specific policies—he helps clients navigate an increasingly complex risk landscape with clarity and confidence.

In his role at Meck Insurance, Harley works closely with business owners, executives, and key stakeholders to assess exposures, identify coverage gaps, and design tailored insurance strategies. He is committed to building long‑term relationships and serving as a trusted advisor, providing not just policies but peace of mind for the organizations he supports.

Outside the office, Harley enjoys spending quality time with his three boys. Whether he’s supporting their activities or simply enjoying family time, he brings the same dedication and enthusiasm to his personal life that he brings to his work.

Erika is a dedicated member of the customer service team at Meck Insurance, known for her reliability, quick response times, and commitment to getting things done right the first time. She takes pride in supporting clients through every step of the insurance process and makes it her mission to ensure no detail is ever overlooked. Her passion for helping others shines through in every interaction, making her a trusted and valued resource for the individuals and families she serves.

Outside the office, Erika brings that same energy and enthusiasm to the things she loves most. She’s a devoted Baltimore Ravens fan and a true music enthusiast—whether it’s game day or her favorite playlist, she’s happiest when the volume is turned all the way up. Her upbeat spirit and dedication make her an essential part of the Meck Insurance team.

Mike Beckman was born and raised in Maryland and has built his career around serving others. Before joining Meck Insurance Agency in April 2025, he spent seventeen years working in Education and also owned and operated his own business. These experiences shaped his strong foundation in customer service, communication, and problem‑solving—skills he now brings to his role in Client Services.

A 2002 graduate of Salisbury University with a BA in Communications, Mike has always valued connection and community. His work at Meck Insurance centers on creating smooth, positive, and genuinely helpful experiences for every client. He approaches each interaction with patience, clarity, and a friendly, solutions‑focused mindset.

Having lived in Howard County for most of his life, Mike enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. He’s passionate about coaching and loves sharing sports and activities with his two kids. Whether he’s supporting clients or cheering on his family, Mike brings enthusiasm, dedication, and a people‑first approach to everything he does.
