“I have had insurance for many years but this year I finally took the time to read what my homeowner’s insurance was actually covering. I inquired about renewing my policy with a well-known company that has a huge advertising presence on tv. They were willing to have me name my price for what I wanted to pay for the policy and insisted that I would still get full coverage if my house burned down. Once I read over the policy I could see they were trying to scam me. I read the entire policy’s (which took a few weeks because they are so boring) that three different companies were offering me for homeowners’ insurance. I had a list of questions about the policies. The long-time owner of one well known insurance company that was recommended to me by a friend wouldn’t explain to me the difference between a named perils and an all or open perils policy. That was suspicious to me because the MD Insurance Commission recommended an open or all perils policy as opposed to a named perils policy. I needed to know the difference! Brian knew the difference and I really grilled him on his knowledge of the policy he wanted me to buy. I sent him written questions which he promptly called and answered on the phone. I’m sure I took Brian by surprise with all my detailed questions. I liked that Brian knew his product so well and was willing to discuss my concerns and questions. I bought a policy that guarantees me replacement cost and is all perils. I feel confident that I bought the best homeowner’s policy that offers the best coverage for my home and if I ever do need to use the policy I feel confident that I will have no problems being treated fairly.
